Bored piling is the most widely used piling method in New South Wales Australia, and is one of APG’s core specialitiesy. Using rotary drill rigs, material is extracted in controlled increments to create an open bore, which is then reinforced and poured with concrete in place. The method is suited to ground conditions where the bore will hold itself open remain open unsupported. Typically good clays, low-strength rock, or hard rock requiring deep embedment. It’s the preferred method for government and infrastructure projects due to its ability to allow full visual inspection of the base and pile parameters during installation.
Where projects demand deep embedment into rock, high-rise foundations, bridges, and major infrastructure, bored piling delivers the reach and load capacity required.
With rigs capable of applying significant downforce and torque, APG can core through rock strengths up to 200 MPa, classified as extremely high-strength rock in geotech reporting.
From small residential footings to 3,000mm-diameter foundation piles for major structures, our fleet covers the full range of diameters.
Where poor material sits above good rock, temporary casings can stabilise the upper section. At the same time, the bore continues through to the required toe, keeping bored piling viable across a wider range of sites.
